A wonderful tale of redemption in hardship, starring Gregory Peck. He is a disillusioned businessman looking for more meaning and financial security in his job. His wife(Jennifer Jones)is always finding him secretive and evasive and continues to demand he live up to his responsibilities at work and at home. He reflects back at times in his life as a captain in the war and the atrocities he lived and saw, as well as a secret about a lover he left in Rome. He continues to live day to day in the difficulties of a new job until that secret is dicovered and he must face the reality of a marriage in trouble. The ending is a beautiful story of redemption and love.
