Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Uninvited (2009)

Anna is back home after being treated at a psychiatric hospital. She is now with her dad, her sister Alex, and his dad's girlfriend Rachel. Anna has mental issues and nightmares ever since her mom, who was sick, died in a fire at their boathouse. Anna and Alex do not like Rachel, who was their mom's nurse when she was sick. They come up with a theory that Rachel burned the boathouse, to murder their mom. They also find out that Rachel was a nanny who murdered three kids. One day, Rachel runs after Anna and sedates her. Anna is floating in and out of consciousness and sees Alex with a knife. When Anna wakes again, she sees Rachel dead, Alex having killed her. When the dad arrives, Anna explains that Rachel attacked them so they defended themselves. The dad is appalled and tells Anna that Alex has been dead for years. As it turns out, Anna was the one who set the boathouse on fire after seeing her dad with Rachel, and her mom and Alex died from the fire. After treatment, Anna made up all the stories about Rachel, and was the one who killed her.

Best part of story, including ending: Because it tricks you into believing that Rachel really is an evil would-be step mom.

Best scene in story: When Anna is told that her sister's been gone awhile and she cannot believe it.

Opinion about the main character: You'll root for Anna and realize that she only has good intentions, only in the end, you find out she's insane.
