A group of small-time thieves make plans to rob a jeweler. They plan to break into the adjacent apartment and break through the wall into the jewelry shop.
One of the thieves wooes the maid that cleans the apartment to try to gain access. He learns that the apartment owners will be out of town soon.
However, before the robbery, the thief falls for the maid and can't use her to gain access.
The inept thieves break into the apartment, but they break down the wrong wall. Now, they don't have enough time to break through the other wall and into the safe.
One of the thieves decides to find some food. He finds a cookie jar with one thousand dollars stashed in it. He finds a pot in the fridge and wants to heat it on the stove. When they light the stove the apartment blows up.
So, after weeks of planning and preparing, the thieves end up with charred and tattered clothes and just the thousand dollars they found.
