Vera (played by Neve Campbell) is a beautiful 20-something living in New York city in a gorgeous loft financed by her wealthy parents. Vera is a sexually adventurous woman, one who has a habit of picking up men on the street and taking them back to her apartment for sex. Vera is constantly on the prowl, seemingly looking for gratification through these conquests. Although Vera has a boyfriend named Ford (Frederick Weller), she also has a female lover on the side.

Meanwhile, Ford is constantly hustling and trying to score cash. Ford is a big talker and is constantly bragging about all his contacts and the famous people he is doing business with. In actuality, Ford is close to broke and looking for a big score. Enter a famous Italian Count named Tommaso (Dominic Chianese), who has fallen in love/lust with Vera. The Count is desperate to hook up with Vera and he wants Ford to make it happen, Ford, always looking for the big score, comes up with the idea of loaning out Vera to the Count for $100,000. Although Ford hems and haws about the idea to Vera, he's shocked when Vera agrees to the plan. Both Ford and the Count are ecstatic. They are both going to be getting what they want. Unfortunately, neither the crafty Ford or the worldly Count are prepared for Vera's duplicity and machinations.
