Based on Beauty and the Beast, Alex Pettyfer is Kyle. A handsome, spoiled, rich, arrogant brat living in New York City. His mean ways catch the attention of schoolmate Kendra (Mary Kate Olsen), who practices black magic. To teach him a lesson, she casts a spell that renders him disfigured: covered in scars and tattoos on his face. Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) is beautiful, kind, and humble, and dislikes Kyle. But their paths cross when Kyle helps Lindy's dad out of trouble. To repay Kyle, Lindy is forced by Kyle to stay at his apartment to keep him company. Kyle does this in the hopes of breaking the spell, since the chance of her falling in love with him will do the trick.
