Actors: Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of My Week With Marilyn

Colin (Eddie Redmayne) starts working for Lawrence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) as a film assistant on the London set of The Prince and the Showgirl, starring bombshell Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams). Colin is enthralled by her, and in a funny twist of luck, they become friends. Marilyn is highly unstable, insecure, and is addicted to prescription drugs. Colin becomes her confidante, her escape during the pressure-filled filming under the strict Olivier. Colin also attracts a young wardrobe assistant (Emma Watson), who feels she cannot compete with Marilyn. Colin is caught up in his own fantasy, but he knows deep down that the inevitable will happen. Marilyn, who is married to playwright Arthur Miller, will wrap filming, go back to America, and forget about him. For now, he is enjoying the fantasy, a brief sojourn with the biggest moviestar in the world.
