This is a biography of Lane Frost, a rodeo bull rider who was one of the youngest champions in the sport. Lane Frost is an ambitious bull rider who is mentored by his bull rider father Clyde. Clyde is overbearing and stern, and Lane always fails to get his approval. But Lane proves himself as a naturally-talented rider, and rises up the ranks. He meets and marries a rodeo girl Kellie, but their marriage is rocky with Lane's quick rise to the top, as well as his penchant for fame. Lane would rather spend time with his best friend, Tuff, also a rider, and soon the marriage ends. Lane competes in national competitions, and his claim to fame is his riding of an unrideable bull, Red Rock. Sadly, he is most remembered for his last ride, where after unmounting a bull, his side is punctured by its horn, and he dies from internal bleeding.

Best part of story, including ending:
It's a rare peek into the world of rodeo, plus it has the personal aspect of Lane's life.
Best scene in story:
When he rides Red Rock and makes it look so easy.
Opinion about the main character:
It's expected that Lane will become too cocky for his own good, it's usually the case when you have someone rise too fast.
