Jamie Whitfield is a 36 year old producer at NBS news in New York City stuck in an unhappy marriage who has to decide if she is going to stay in her marriage for her children's sake or not. Jamie and her attorney husband, Phillip, live a lavish life with three beautiful children, a new apartment and a housekeeper, nanny and driver at their beck and call. What we would call the American dream except that for Jamie it's not. She came from middle class America from middle class parents and she Just can not seem to get comfortable with her people in her day to day life now. She is uncomfortable around all the drama that surrounds these wealthy people her husband grew up with. When their nine year old son Dylan collapses to the gym floor during a basketball game she knows she must do something so she decides to hire a Manny. A male figure who can spend time with Dylan after school everyday and help him with math homework, things Phillip is always to busy or too absent to do. Enter in thirty year old Peter Bailey after seeing him in Central park working with a large group of kids Jamie decides he would be the perfect man for the job. As time goes on Dylan as well as five year old Gracie and two year old Michael come to adore Peter, whom Jame has kept a secret from Phillip after he objects to the hiring of anymore household help. Jamie grows increasingly busy at work as she works on a big story for the network. Soon she begins to feel a strong attraction to Peter, trying to convince herself that it's her imagination that the feelings are mutual. When Jamie and Dylan attend Peters birthday party she begins to think that there may be something there. Jamie has been back and forth about her marriage for a long time until she finds Phillip cheating with one of her best friends. Pretty sure her marriage is over and with her career on the line Jamie falls into a depression. Then Two weeks later she is fired from the job she loves so much and Peter seems to be coming around less and less. Finally on a trip to Aspen Jamie and Peter are able to be themselves and declare their feelings and then Philip shows up. He is in some legal trouble and needs Jamie's help. Jamie agrees to keep what she knows in return for Phillips agreement with her demands for the divorce. Given no choice due to the file she has hidden in a safe deposit box Phillip agrees.

I liked the fact that this story kept me engaged by keeping the characters interesting and drawing me into their lives.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene is when Dylan and Jamie attend Peters birthday party. On of Peter's friends in his sixties asks Jamie to dance to "Brown Eyed Girl" but when he leads her on to the dance floor Peter cuts in and they share a very romantic dance.
Opinion about the main character:
The thing I dislike most about Jamie is her indecisiveness about her marriage.
