Sallie Jerome has come a long way from being a plain and timid housewife to one of the best field reporter for a newspaper. However her career is suddenly threatened when her estranged husband for 7 years suddenly returned and bought the newspaper company she's working for. She fears that Rhydon will fire her in order to cut any association with her especially when they haven't spoken to each other for over 7 years. Rhydon Baines, a noted reporter himself, becomes tired of living the excitement of a field reporter and wants to settle down. He buys a newspaper company and decides to find his wife and take her back. He is completely surprised when his wife turns out to be the company's leading newsman. He is also amazed by the physical changes in Sallie. But what never surprises him is the attraction and passion they can arouse from each other. Sallie doesn't want to return back as being a wife to Rhy. She loves her career and wants to divorce Rhy. But Rhy is not asking for a divorce and he does everything to be with his wife again. Finally Sallie surrender when she finds herself out of the payroll from the company and the book manuscript she's been writing is with Rhy. Rhy proposes to her to give their marriage again a chance for 6 months. In that 6 months she can write her novel without any worry about money or housework. Sallie gives in. It isn't long for them to establish the routine of married life and Sallie eventually becomes pregnant. But one of Rhy's lady friends returns with malice when she tells Sallie that she is pregnant with Rhy's baby. Sallie is hurt and feels betrayed and goes away. After many weeks of solitude, Sallie decides that she really loves Rhy very much and will fight for him.
