Deluge Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Deluge

A thrilling disaster adventure written and set in 1977 in which freak tidal surges in the North Sea cause London's biggest disaster - a massive flood. Waters rise to thirty feet high. Bankside power station explodes as the surges strike, causing a city wide power cut. Flood co-ordinator Derek Thompson struggles to control the chaos as the authorities dally over evacuation plans, whilst trying to save his wife who is trapped in the Underground as subway tunnels sink beneath the rising waters. Although the Thames Barrier has eliminated the likelihood of such a disaster occurring(for the time being . . .) this is still a very spectacular novel indeed!
