Far Above Rubies Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Far Above Rubies

When Sofie married Jan she took on the care of his six young daughters. When Hitler invaded the Netherlands, the Jewish family are in danger and it is not long before the girls are summoned to 'work camps'. Sofie chooses to go with her adopted daughters and tries to protect them through the horrors of the trains, the labour camps and finally the death camps. The family face persecution, abuse and various forms of torture, but Sofie is determined not to give up even as she watches her girls slowley succumbing to the Nazi horrors. This book is based on a true story, it is an incredibly powerful piece of writing and I wept over it several times.
