Danielle Steel faced the constant challenge of balancing her writing career, her large family, and her son's illness. It was a labor of love though. Through the support of her family, she was able to be there for Nick through many of his crisis. At times it tore her apart to always have to give her time and energy to Nick while sometimes having nothing left for the other children. It was also emotionally draining on her.

This is the journey of a mother and son through the challenges faced by those suffering from manic depression.
