Vada is a young girl whose best friend is a little boy named Thomas J. Her father is an undertaker and her grandmother is a little bit crazy. Vada believes she's dying and constantly visits the doctor to see if she is. The basic idea of this story is how young Vada deals with friends, family, crushes, and tragedy.
