Sloan Reynolds is a police woman in a small town in Florida. Her father is a wealthy businessman who abandoned her and her mother when she was a baby, taking her sister, Paris, with him. Slon has never had any contact with her father until she recieves a phone call asking her to join him and her sister at the Reynolds' private family estate. She immediately turns him down. Sloan is then approched by an FBI agent who is investigating her father. He needs to get close to the family in order to bust him for drug trafficing. Sloan agrees to accept her family's invitation, posing as an interior designer, and brings the agent with as her boyfriend.

Once there she finds herself genuinely liking her sister and her great-grandmother. And she finds herself falling in love with corperate hotshot Noah Maitland. She also unknowingly supplies the FBI with incriminating evidence against him.
When her great-grandmother is murdered Sloan becomes the prime suspect and must blow her cover. Everyone whom she has come to care for feels betrayed by her actions. The evidence she supplied against Noah has led to a public seizure of his boats and he refuses to let Sloan explain her innocence. To top it all off, there's also a killer on the loose trying to frame Sloan, and everyone that she knows is a suspect.
