In 1980 and thirty-seven year old Dr. David Strauss and his wife, Heather, are attending a glitzy party at David's family home. The party is in honor of David's brother, Nicholas and his wife Berri, who have been nominated for an Oscar. When Nicholas and Berri are on stage accepting their Oscar, when a man yelling German, comes on stage and shoots them. Moments later, a group of terrorists attack David and his family. Heather and David's grandmother, Elena are both shot and killed.
