A young man, Bink, was exiled from his land of Xanth by the senile, old king for having no magic talent. But he does have one, he just has to find out what it is. So he goes to Mundania, gets captured, and makes a new friend. They get away a back to Xanth with an evil magician, and struggles with issues of honor and trust.

A so called evil magician is ready to invade xanth,they try to stop it but end up helping him get into Xanth. They end up befriending the magician and putting him into goverment.
