The Chosen basically tells of the journey of Carnelian, his father and three other masters as they travel from a remote island back to the Osrakum for the election of a new God-Emperor. Once the characters arrive, the story focuses on the election itself and Carnelian's time spent in Osrakum, the home of the masters hidden within a crater.
