For two months 25 year old Kathleen Haley is devoting her time and energies to being a camp counselor in the Ozark Mountains for a group of orphans. Kathleen is a fashion buyer from Atlanta who sought a two month respite after being sexually harassed on the job. Kathleen finds the camp counselor position enriching. She loves the outdoors and being around children all day makes her heart soar. When she meets videographer Erik Gudjonsen, who has been assigned to film a documentary on the orphans, Kathleen feels an instant attraction to the handsome blonde. Erik is used to female attention. He has a history of loving and leaving the ladies. Although she is a virgin, Kathleen can't help but give in to her attraction to Erik, who seduces her a few days after they meet. Kathleen and Erik's relationship is shortlived. When Kathleen mistakenly believes Erik is married, she heads back to Atlanta with her tail between her legs. Shortly thereafter, Kathleen discovers she is pregnant. When she receives a proposal of marriage from her wealthy employer (and heir to Mason's department store) Seth Mason, Kathleen accepts in order to give her child a name and the air of legitimacy. Although Seth is a wonderful and kind person, he is also a paraplegic. Seth and Kathleen share nothing more than a few kisses here and there. When Erik unexpectedly reenters her life, Kathleen is drawn towards the man she has been unable to forget. Kathleen commits adultery and engages in an affair with Erik. Torn between two men, will Kathleen honor her marriage vows or choose a life with the only man she has ever loved?
