He is forced to flee the capital city, and makes friends with a showman and his servant, and they are later joined by a street girl named Mickle, who has a very mysterious past. After a series of adventures, they are captured by Cabbarus and learn that the power-hungry Chief Minister is manipulating the king, who has been grieving for his dead daughter for six years, and that he wants them to play a part in his rise to power.
