John Kennedy Jr. and his wife were instrumental in helping the Radziwill's deal with this dreadful disease. John made late night calls and spent as much time as possible with his cousin who he considered his best friend. He even showed up at the hospital late at night in his tuxedo and sang a childhood song to him. Carolyn helped Carole by staying in the hospital with her while Anthony underwent numerous surgeries and tests. Carole leaned on Carolyn many times by phone to cry out her frustrations so she can be strong for her dying husband. Cancer became the main focus in the author's marriage and she candidly describes all the emotions that came along with it.
Anthony's last days on earth are nearing as cancer dwindles him away. The author is maintaining until a late night phone call crushed her. Nobody seemed to know where John Kennedy Jr. and his wife are. Their plane never arrived and it's hours later with no sign of them. A few days later it was confirmed that their small plane did crash as the bodies were discovered in the Atlantic Ocean. As the book nears you can feel the trauma and deep pain the author regretfully experiences.
