Parker and the "Spenser" novels Robert Crais and the Elvis Cole novels Stephen Hunter and the Earl Swagger novels John MacDonald and the Travis Mcgee novels These authors represent numerous novels, all of which are excellent. It's best, to read them chronologically, but they will all stand alone.
