Joseph Conrad Message Board

posts on 8/28/2006 6:07:13 PM tell me the foundation of joseph conrad's literature?
posts on 8/19/2006 3:12:48 AM Conrad was a product of his time, as such he could definately be considered a racist. The 'he had plenty of black friends' just doesn't wash away his colonial bias I'm afraid. I think he's a fanatstic storyteller, and I by no means put him in this league, but Hitler also had a Jew at the helm of his propoganda machine...I know plenty of male chauvinist's with female wives.
posts on 4/25/2006 10:25:43 AM Although Conrads books contain much about brutality to blacks he himself felt no spite towards them. He had many black friends
