Mashrur Rahman posts on 12/9/2006 12:32:30 PM The giver is a really boring book. It comes to point which is a little sad.. But i don't rate is that high cause its really boring at the beginning.. The author should have made it more interesting at the begining
Jillian posts on 10/28/2006 7:33:28 PM Hello. I read "The Giver" when i was in 6th grade...and personally i hated the ending it was such a good story that it had to end so dumb. What a (personally) awful way to live! i mean what are they called... the birthmothers? if they give birth to like 3 babies, arn't they getting raped? or are they doing it by choice? i dont think so, because clearly that society lives with no freedom what so ever...i hated the part when jonas's father kills that baby just because it's premature gees! and whats with the color part? what? is everyone like color blind and can only see in black and white? i claim it to be an awful society because...well, everyones so happy, but thats just it! no one feels anger, sadness (especially when someone has died!) depression, or jelousy! i thought you cant live one without the other. LOL it would be funny if someone from that society came up to us and said "what an awful way to live" because they might think we're strange...but i think it's terrible that you cant even make your own choices in the book. other than that though, i loved it.

posts on 8/25/2006 12:11:47 PM I've only read Number The Stars and the Giver but I loved them both. I'm in the middle of like 3 books right now but when i get more time i'm going to read Into The Blue and The Messenger also.
posts on 8/25/2006 10:16:15 AM I rather liked the Messanger and The Giver, but I'm not sure how I feel about Gathering Blue. I have this weird feeling for it. But at least Lois Lowry made Kira a more likable character in it; I mean, much different from perfect, whole characters. And I don't actually think she's dangerous to minds, because if she believes that children aught to know how things were like, then she can show them (but then, I always have thought that ignorance was the greatest fault).
posts on 8/25/2006 8:55:59 AM I loved Number the Stars. It was extremely informative and uplifting. However, I hated Gathering Blue. I thought it was an apologistic introduction to fascist rule. The fact that Kira stays in the village is extremely stupid. Isn't that what the Jews in Germany did during WWII? Just what is the point you are trying to make? What are you saying to children? That they should tolerate tyranny or that they can possibly correct it in spite of their limitations? If so, I think you are dangerous to young minds.
posts on 8/21/2006 5:55:42 PM WOW i completly agree with fall season!! there should be a movie and that song would be PERFECT! i love lois Lowly's The Giver
posts on 8/4/2006 8:24:22 PM I just LOVED Messenger! I really felt what Matty was feeling! She writes it so that you feel you are in the story looking at what is going on. I really hope she keeps on writting more wonderful books!
posts on 8/3/2006 5:07:08 PM I loved this book. I loved everything to it and everything about it. I seriously think there should be a movie. And I have found the perfect soundtrack. "Dangerous to know" by Hillary Duff. I was seriously freaked out when I heard this song. The first I heard it, I was like "THE GIVER!" All my friends agree with me. You guys should check it out.
