I was wondering if anyone knew what kinda dog Falcor the dragon was based on?

he did have a formal name in the book, it was Vooshvazool, Rock eater was Pyornkrachzark, and the tiny was named Gluckuck. And it's only in the book that he calls her Moonchild, just because of her beauty. He names her after his mother in the movie, which very well could have been Mariah, as that's what it souds like to me. Any one who hasn't read the book NEEDS to read it. The movie is only half of the book, and they leave sooooo many awesome things out (imagine seeing the "Nothing" bitten bark trolls in the movie, that would have been cool!). I actually went to see this in theatres when it first came out. I'm now reading the book to my 4.5 year old daughter (I was 3 when I went to see this in theatres)and I will show her the movie too! then my 2 year old son when he is old enough, and the legend will continue..

It does not sound to me as if Bastian is saying moonchild at all, I always thought he shouted MARIAH... I have thought it all my life???? Does anyone have a copy of the script?

The name thing has been plaguing me since the movie came out. It happened to be on cable the other day, so I muted it in hopes that the caption would finally solve the mystery. I waited with immense anticipation only to read (yelling!). You should have seen my glower. SO BUMMED OUT!!! Anywho, I can now sleep at night believing he named her Moonchild.

i think moonchild was her name but as for the 'fluffy' background on real names etc, i don't think its really relevant! the films about imagination, fantasy and make-believe! if they want the mother's name to be moonchild then it damn well will be moonchild! :P i mean, its a bit of a downer if the empress gets a name along the line of Emma or Laura etc! not very imaginative is it now! :D

Ok. Didn't Bastian say he was naming the empress/princess after his mother??? And because everyone seems to agree that he said Moonchild...
Was his freakin' mom named Moonchild?! Like... even hippy parents don't go that far. Maybe that was a nickname, or a middle name, or what people called her, or what she called Bastian??? Was that his mother's actual given name at birth??? Help me out here. P.S. Totally gonna be her for halloween.

Hi all, at long last I now know what the heck bastian shouted out the window to the empress! Moonchild! I got the DVD of the first and second movies but I have been puzzled with the name thing for the last 10 years at least! also, doesn't the music just give you goosebump!
