About Time Movie Review Summary

Actors: Rachel McAdams, Domhnall Gleeson

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of About Time

The movie covers Tim Lake throughout his twenties. At 21, at a New Years party, his father tells him that the men of the family have always had the ability to travel through time, but only backwards. After he finds out how to do it, the first thing he does is go back in time to a point earlier in the night, and kisses the girl that he'd previously been afraid to kiss.

And that is primarily what Tim uses his special talent for - to find the girl and keep her.

The girl is Mary, a sweet girl with a sense of humor but one not to be crossed. He finds her, loses her, finds her again and does everything in his power to make sure that their relationship is perfect.

There are some cross-plots involving his eccentric sister and his father that make the main character even more likable.
Best part of story, including ending: I loved that this movie was not about getting money or power or prestige and that the only important thing is Tim's life was love. Many people don't like the stories that are about finding "the one" - the person you were meant to be with but if you like that sort of thing you'll love this.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when he had to go back in time again to un-do what he had done to save his sister from a car accident. It was so hard for him to do but it was a matter of saving someone's life. And his sister benefited from being in the car accident in a way because she learned a lesson and was able to get off the self-destructive path she was on.
