Actors: Gavin Magrath, Sarah Polley, John Stocker, Charles Kerr

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Babar: The Movie

This 1989 French film (the indicated actors performed the dubbed English voices) faithfully brings to the screen the de Brunhoffs' plucky young elephant. Babar's father, the king, has gone away on holiday when the rhinoceroses declare war on the kingdom. When Prince Babar and his rather brainless girlfriend Celeste (a female always dressed in pink, from the Fay Wray school of acting) go to her village, it has been ravaged and her parents taken into slavery by the rhinos. The two must travel to Rhino City (along with their wily monkey friend Zephir) to face the rhino warlord, Rataxes, and decide whether the resolve the crisis peacefully or with violence.
