Helen Slater plays Ellie, a mother who is going through a divorce. She and her daughter are having difficult trying to cope, and trying to deal with the ex-husband played by Alan Thicke. Kelly LeBrock plays her best friend Una. Una knows someone who would be just "perfect" for Ellie. Ellie is tired of everyone trying to set her up, but finally agrees to go on a date with him. The handsome doctor Jesse plays by Billy Zane seems to be just what she needed to stabilize her and her daughter's lives. But when did Billy Zane ever play a nice guy? Not in this movie. He is really in on a plot to kill Ellie, but he first has to worn his way into her good graces and her bed. Ellie ultimately realizes not all is right and has to protect herself and her daughter from a deadly plot.
