Teena Brandon, a boyish young woman in Lincoln, Nebraska, adopts the dress and ways of a young man and starts calling herself Brandon Teena. She moves to the smaller town of Falls City and starts hanging out with the guys and especially hometown blonde Lana Tisdel. Things heat up in one way with Lana, and in an entirely different and dire way with the other guys. This odd and hard-to-take romantic tragedy is based on an entirely true story.
