CARLITO'S WAY is a movie directed by Brian de Palma in 1993.
NYC, 1975. Al -Carlito Brigante- Pacino, a puerto rican ex-heroin big shot has just been released from prison. He should have served 30 years but thanks to his lawyer Sean Penn, he could get out after a 5 years term.
Pacino has decided to retire from the drug dealing business and just needs $75,000 in order to begin a new life in the Bahamas in the company of his girl-friend Gail. He runs a club partly owned by Sean Penn and tries not to get involved in any criminal business. But Sean Penn asks him for help and protection when the italian mob wants the jewish lawyer dead for having stolen money from a capo.
In 5 years, the barrio has changed. Will Pacino be able to survive when even his blood brothers don't respect their words anymore ?
Masterpiece.
