Walter Goodfellow (Rowan Atkinson) is the well meaning vicar of a small town parish. He is so obsessed with writing the perfect sermon that he is completely clueless to his wife's affair with her golf instructor.

His wife, Gloria feels unloved and neglected, not to mention sexually frustrated. She prays every night for salvation. Then, one day her prayers are answered in the form of Grace, a seemingly sweet old lady, who is hired as the housekeeper. Except, there's one problem...she is a stark raving mad psychopathic killer.
