Leon (Jean Reno) is a hit man in New York. He lives next door to a little girl, Matilda (Natalie Portman). Mathilda's father, unknown to her, is a drug dealer. When he finds out the Matilda's father took some, he goes and kills the entire family with the exception of Matilda who was shopping. When she comes back and finds her family dead, she goes to her neighbor whom she sees all the time and camps up with him. When she enters his life, everything changes for him. She later announces that she wants to become a hitman just like Leon so she can get revenge on the corrupt cop who slayed her parents. What follows is an exciting and very sensitive tale of a hitman who grows to love a little girl like his own, and the little girl who grows to love him.
