"The Stickup" stars James Spader as Parker, a troubled L.A. detective who by all appearances seems like the person who robbed a small town back wearing a clown mask. While at a bar he meets Natalie (Leslie Stefanson) and he goes home to sleep with her. She also happens to be the ex wife of the policeman Ray DeCarlo (David Keith) who is chasing after him.

Parker was shot during the incident and he gets Natalie to tend to his wounds. Enter rookie FBI Agent Rick Kendall. Everyone is lead to believe that Parker is the bank robber. But as we flash forward and back we learn that Parker is emotional over the loss of his partner during a drug raid. DeCarlo catches on that Parker is with Natalie and he goes to her house where they subdue him and get his weapon.
Agent Kendall had a funny feeling and figures out that Parker couldn't have robbed the bank as there was video footage found at an ATM of him. This when we learn he didn't rob the bank. He stumbled onto the robbery while getting cash at the ATM. He followed the robber and as he was arresting him DeCarlo showed up and shot Parker. It was DeCarlo who set up the bank robbery all along. From here it's an action packed ending as Parker's detective unit from L.A. shows up to take him out because they think he is going to talk about their work robbing drug dealers. At the same time Parker is dealing with DeCarlo who wants the half million dollars.
