Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Memoirs of a Geisha

Chiyo is taken from her family to be sold to a geisha house when her mother dies. She is treated as a servant and was used. One girl, Hatsumomo, is horrible to her because she wants to be a geisha but feels threatened by Chiyo. When Chiyo was taken her sister was taken somewhere else. Chiyo spends most of her time searching for her sister and they have a plan to run away together but her sister runs without Chiyo. Chiyo is taken under Hatsumomo's rival, Mameha, and begins to train to become a geisha. Her name is changed to Sayuri. She becomes the most celebrated geisha in Japan. She falls in love with the Chairman who was kind to her. The Chairman likes her too but cannot act on it as his friend has expressed his desire for her. Part of being a geisha is having your virginity bought and Sayuri desperatly wants the Chairman to choose her.
