Mystery Street stars Ricardo Montalban as Lieutenant Peter Morales of the Boston Detective Bureau who is trying to solve the case of the skeleton murder. The movie starts out with Vivian Heldon (Jan Sterling) making a phone call to a mysterious person. She desperately wants to meet this person and they make plans to meet at the cafe whjere she works. This person doesn't show up so Vivian sees a drunk Henry Shanway (Marshall Thompson) and tells him she will help him move his car. She drives Henry all the way out to Cape Cod where she makes another phone call to a mystery person. While on her way to meet this person Vivian tricks Henry into getting out of the car, leaving him standed by the side of the road. Vivian finally meet up with this person but we don't see him. She demands her money and is shot for her efforts. Her body is dumped and Henry's car is dumped into a lake. A year later a bird watcher finds some skeletal remains. He reports it to the authorities and Lieutenant Peter Morales get the case. Morales takes the bones to Harvard Medical school where he ultimately finds out its the remains of Vivian Heldon. Through standard police work Morales goes through all of Vivian's known associates and ultimately decides it's Henry that killed Vivian. But as he gets more clues he comes to the conclusion that his assumptions were wrong.
