Mark Lewis, a part time movie technician, part time nude photographer, is obsessed with the idea to film close-ups of faces distorted by fear. As a boy, he was himself observed the whole day by his father, a scientist making experiments about the influence of fear in the human nervous system. Helen Stephens, a young neighbour, falls in love with him as he has more and more often psychotic moments during which he kills young women.
A masterpiece.
