1931.Slim Grissom, a psychotic killer, Eddie Hagan, Woppy, Joe Bailey and Doc compose The Grissom Gang under "Ma" Grissom's firm hand. They accidentally cross the road of three fellow criminals who have just kidnapped Barbara Blandish, a wealthy heiress. They kill their colleagues, take the girl and obtain a ransom of 1 million dollars. Ma wants the girl to be murdered and not freed but her son Slim falls madly in love with her and protects her from the other members of the gang. At first, Barbara Blandish is disgusted by the intellectually deficient criminal but soon understands that she has to cope with him if she wants to stay alive.

A very good Robert Aldrich movie.
