Riddick, after the last film, finds himself stranded on a deserted planet. He had been named Lord Marshal of the Necromongers, but a mutiny resulted in their betrayal of Riddick, leaving his body buried in rock, presumably dead. Riddick, after fixing his broken leg and fending off the fierce native animals, tries to find shelter. He sees a way out towards better shelter, but it resides on the other side of a small lake, which hosts a massive venomous creature. He spends some time domesticating one of the native animals and developing an immunity to creature's venom. Upon slaying the beast and escaping, he finds an outpost for visiting space travelers. Riddick puts a beacon out into space featuring his wanted face and whereabouts. Unsurprisingly, two ships of militant bounty hunters arrive, with the intention of killing Riddick and collecting the expensive bounty. However, these hunters soon become the hunted, as Riddick outsmarts them and starts picking them off one by one. Eventually, after taking out several of the visitors and observing their in-fighting, Riddick turns himself in and issues a warning: there is a larger threat on this planet, a threat that will reveal itself when it rains. An impending storm leads the hunters to try to make a quick decision. Do they trust Riddick, end their fighting, and let him go? Or do they restrain him, ignore his warning, and risk the approaching storm unleashing its fury upon them?
