Dan Morgan (Baker) has had a terrible accident and faces an extended hospital stay. It's the last straw for his wife (Lahti) who is eager to leave, but his daughter, Anna Mae (Follows), wants to do her best to bring in the hay and save the property in her father's absence. She gets help from a hired hand (Forrest) who used to work for her father. She soons find out how difficult the man can be to work with, but he is one of the only experienced people she can find to help.

The film must be seen on the big screen to be fully appreciated. The sweeping, open vistas of Montana are incredible and truly show man's relationship to nature. The cinematography is second to none. One of Follows' early roles with a great cast. Very quiet film with spare dialogue.
