The Notebook is based on Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same title. The movie is the story of Noah and Allie. They meet during the summer while Allie is vacationing with her parents. They have a summer romance with great passion but trouble starts when Allie's mother gets involved. She thinks Noah is not good enough for Allie because he is a country blue collar boy and Allie is from a well to do family and on her way to college. The two are separated by Allie's family and do not see each other for seven years. When the two meet again, Allie is about to be married and Noah has just finished renovating his dream house which was a promise to Allie. Allie goes back to see Noah and of course all their old feelings rekindle. Now Allie must decide to follow her heart or settle for a comfortable marriage. The story is read to a woman who has dementia by a man who loves her and the flsahbacks of the past tie together with the future.
