The setting is the French countryside in a few years, after a nuclear cataclysm. Anna, her husband and their two children arrive at their holiday home where they hope to find peace but the house is occupied by strangers who kill Anna's husband. Then, a long journey begins for Anna and the children who must find shelter and food in order to survive. At last, they arrive at a railway station where a dozen people wait for an hypothetical train to come. Little by little, everybody in the station has to barter their goods against water or food. Soon tension grows between them as more and more people arrive and no train is coming.
