Lords of Dogtown Movie Review Summary

Actors: Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Lords of Dogtown

Lords of Dogtown follows a group of teenage California surfers/skateboarders who grow up when a new type of skateboard wheel that allows you to do more has just been invented. The group forms a team, The Z Boys, sponsored by a local surf shop and enters a skateboard competition where the other contestants haven't learned to use the new wheels yet. The things the Z Boys can do are far more impressive than what anyone else is capable of on the old wheels. The movie follows the lives of the boys, two of which get sponsorships and go on to become famous and are pitted against each other. Another boy gets a brain tumor and in the end the rivals reunite for their dying friend.

Best part of story, including ending: I loved the fact that the rivals reunite. It was a coming of age story and they just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is at the end where the rival skaters are pushing their friend, who has a brain tumor, in his wheelchair in an empty pool. They had often broken into empty pools to skate before their sponsorships and before their friend got sick.

Opinion about the main character: The main character, Stacy, is upstanding. He's morally right and always tries to be nice and do the right thing, which I love.
