This book tells the story of Lilia Albert who eft people behind ever since she was young. As a child, Lilia is kidnapped by her father at a young age and she spends her youth traveling with him to different cities throughout the U.S., constantly changing her identity. When Lilia becomes an adult, oddly enough this part of her childhood remains with her. Lilia finds herself restless and incapable of staying in a single place for too long. She leaves behind a sea of lovers and is haunted by an early childhood and brother she hardly remembers. But Lilia does remember a private detective that has pursued her for many years since her disappearance from her mother's home and Lilia gets the feeling he is still on her trail. But being hunted disturbs her and when Lilia's latest lover follows her from New York to Toronto, she must face the thing that scares her most; what happens when she can no longer run away.

Best part of story, including ending:
I liked that this story explores themes of family love and loss. Abandonment is a serious issue and I think the author managed to capture it perfectly in these pages.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene is in the beginning of the book when Lilia is happy with her boyfriend. Everything seems so cozy and perfect as she lies in the warm bedroom, sheltered from the cold world outside. Yet, Lilia is not content. She flees despite this comfort.
Opinion about the main character:
I hated how broken Lilia was. She was a product of her childhood spent running from place to place and she adopted this way of being in her adulthood. I felt bad for her, that she could not accept love when it was handed to her on a platter.
