|Plot Summary of Soulmate|
This is not a typical love story. An Indian doctor named Raj is borderline arrogant. Although he is betrothed to a beautiful, caring woman named Maya, he fails to truly appreciate her. Then, while riding the subway one day, a new woman named Molly peaks his interest. Molly is a tall, slender white woman and a very free spirit. After he encounters her, his life is never the same. Raj slowly drifts away from Maya into Molly's embrace.
Maya is immediately suspicious, but it isn't until Raj takes Maya to Molly's performance that she voices her concern. Raj struggles with his feelings for both women and spends the book rediscovering himself through love and loss. Raj is forced to let go of certain notions and adopt a new philosophy on what it means to have a soulmate.
Raj Rabban is an intern in psychiatry, of Indian descent, engaged to a Maya, a family friend. All seems to be on course for Raj until he meets Molly a red headed actress on the subway who may possibly be his soulmate. Their time together is short. This relationship has altered his life personally and professionally.
