'America the Beautiful' is a quirky, humorous book which at times seems to paralell the real life of author Moon Unit Zappa, daughter of the late Frank Zappa (legendary composer and musician). Set in Los Angeles, the main character, 'America Throne', comes to grips with the death of her famous artistic father and struggles with a myraid of unsuccessful relationships. Her journey includes "duty-dating", battling with a new-age therapist, communal retreats, a one night stand, and visit to a downtown mystic. 'America the Beautiful' portrays brutal emotional honesty, and is a witty and engaging story of finding one's true self.
