Ricki begins a relationship with a homicide detective who is investigating a murder to which she may have been a witness while continuing a relationship with her ex-husband, with whom she is still in love. Although Ricki tries to stay in the background with WAR due to the fact that her ex-husband is running for political office, through a demonstration against a men's club, she becomes the reluctant spokesperson for the group and subsequently in the forefront with each issue which WAR addresses. She also constantly finds herself drawn in to the hilarious escapades of the three-member vigilante group who deal with various situations involving both men and women, trying to right what they perceive as wrong after WAR cannot achieve that goal.
In seeking her goal to live life to its fullest and to experience all that she can, Ricki finds herself in predicament after predicament until she comes to the conclusion that all she is doing is chasing her problems instead of confronting them. After much soul-searching, as well as having to deal with an unwanted pregnancy and then being kidnapped by the man who committed the murder she witnessed, Ricki finally realizes who she is and what she wants from life.
