Screenwriter Phil Hastings and his family move to a small town in New York State to try to resurrect his writing career. But there is something strange about the area they are living in. Little do they know that the Kessler place that they are living in used to be called Elf King Hill of Hill of the Elf King. The 8 year old twins Sean and Patrick are the first to notice that something is different and soon learn to stay away from the "bad thing" under Troll Bridge. Stranger and stranger happenings occur including the discovery of a hidden room in the basement of the house containing ancient dcuments and unusual paintings. Eventually Patrick is abducted by the Elf King and it is up to his twin Sean to enter the lair, armed with the knowledge of old man Barney Doyle and the protection of his ward, and save his brother before the stroke of midnight when Patrick will become the Elf King's slave forever.
