Columnist Ruby Capote finally took some initiative with her life when she sent her resume and a six-pack of beer to the editor of a New York paper. Then she left her longtime, going-nowhere relationship and took the job offered to her by the seemingly charming Michael Hobbs. When she gets to the city, Ruby reinstitutes girls' poker night, a practice from her college days where she and her friends sometimes play for money and sometimes play for secrets and thoughts. Although Ruby had been certain Michael had shown interest in her, she finds his aloofness a little disheartening at first. Finally, they make common ground, only for Ruby to discover a secret from Michael's past that she's not sure she can cope with.
