    Rex Adams, has decided to travel to visit his younger brother after being jilted by his betrothed for another man, so he and other friends who he served with in the war have small house party, where he meets Catherine, and decides he wants to take her on as a mistress.
   Catherine, whose livelihood depends upon a quiet and discreet life, rejects Rex's proposal and tells him repeatedly how offended she is by it.
