In this book, Darcy's best friend Erin is murdered. The reader is is told about the murders but not who the murderer is. The guy started killing girls when he was a teen because he liked this girl named Nan and she did not like him. She loved to dance so he bought her dancing shoes for her birthday. He was not invited to her party so he met her in the woods the next day while she was on her morning jog. He gave her the present and she opened them. She didn't like him and she expressed that. He then got mad and strangled her to death. After that he put the dancing slippers on her and danced with her. He then replaced one of her running shoes and took one of each shoes with her. Over a decade later he was still killing people. Over almost a two year period he had killed 7 more girls and then Erin. He met the girls through personal ads. If they answered his special ad about dancing he took them to his house and gave them a pair of dancing shoes. He then danced with them, killed them, then danced with them again. After that he took off one slipper and put on their regular shoe. He kept all the girls shoes in shoe boxes and burried their bodies. After Erin, he had one more person on his list.... Darcy. While Darcy tries to find Erin's killer by answering personal ads, she doesn't realize what danger she is in.
