Oath of Challenge: Conquering Kate Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Oath of Challenge: Conquering Kate

Kate was relieved that Sharon's (Oath of Seduction: Seducing Sharon) 3-week trial period was finally over. As Sharon's lawyer and best friend, Kate had all of the papers drawn up and ready for Sharon's signature so that she could dissolve the ridiculous oath that required her to date an alien she had been forced to fulfill with a Shimerian (alien) male named Liken da'Kamon.

What she was not expecting was two Pactreps showing up in her office and dragging her off to fulfill her own Oath with a Shimerian male. It is true that she talked Sharon into doing her patriotic duty and signing the register, placing both of them in the pool of potential Earth mates for Shimerian males, but the chances of two best friends both being called to Oath was infinitesimal! Kate was furious and was ready to give her potential mate a blistering set down, but she did want to see Sharon so she went with the Pactreps.

Kate was both stunned and relieved to discover that Sharon was there to make her relationship with Liken official and that she looked like a woman very much in love. She was infuriated to discover that the man who Called her to Oath was Tair da'Kamon, Liken's elder brother whom she had taken an instant dislike to. However, Kate was a lawyer and believed in the law, so she decided to go through with the charade, have two weeks of the best sex of her life, and then dump Tair like a hot rock. When Kate was presented with her choices for courtship: Seduction, Challenge or Capture, she immediately chose Challenge and was whisked off to the portal between the worlds to begin her so-called new life.

Kate had an inauspicious beginning when Tair discovered that she was one of the few women that the portal affected so strongly by making them pass out for a day, but since Kate insisted that she never fainted, he let it go and concentrated on seducing her. By choosing the Oath of Challenge, Kate agreed to let Tair give her whatever he - and she - wanted sexually. However, if she allowed him to have actual intercourse with her in the two week time period, she would remain pledged to him and become his pactmate by law. What Kate did not know is that Tair merged his mind with hers after he gave her an orgasm shortly after her arrival on Shimeria. His mind link enabled him to see Kate's every secret fantasy and desire and Tair intended on fulfilling every single one of them...

I enjoyed this book more than Oath of Seduction because I understood the Shimerian world better and I also thought that Tair was even sexier than his brother. He is an Enforcer, too, though, and, once again, Marly Chance does not use the opportunity to explain more about the Enforcers on Shimeria and what exactly they are protecting the people against as there is no danger in sight.

Kate was a great character, too, she seemed tough and abrasive on the outside, but was really looking for a guy who would stand up to her and yet still treat her like a treasure. It was entertaining, to say the least, to see these two strong willed people go head to head and try to win the game.
